In recent news Alshaya acquired the GCC regional brand licensing rights for Sprinkles Cupcakes (Beverly Hills, U.S.) the company generally credited with originating the at-retail “gourmet cupcake” business. The company also also acquired franchise rights for a KidZania (family entertainment center) venue in Kuwait, which is scheduled open in late 2012.
